What can I expect to do in this role?

• Under the general supervision of the Zone Manger, you will assist in providing information relative to ecological resources and recommendations for their management.
• You will assist with collection, compilation, analysis and reporting of ecological data pertaining to Ontario Parks and protected areas.
• You will assist with responding to inquiries from internal staff and external clients.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• Proof of eligibility to work in Canada;
• Proof of full-time enrollment in a recognized post-secondary college or university or graduation within the last five years; and
• Candidates are only eligible to participate in a maximum of two placements.

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of biology and ecology including conservation biology;
• Knowledge of legislative and resource management planning tools that provide protection to ecological resources;
• Knowledge of analytical techniques and computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheet software, in order to analyze data and prepare reports;
• Knowledge of flora and fauna of Ontario;
• Interpersonal and communications kills (oral and written);
• Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and maintain linkages with supervisors, co-workers and stakeholders;
• Organizational and research skills;
• Knowledge of worker responsibilities as outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act;
• Valid Class “G” Driver's License and ability to travel occasionally to locations throughout Ontario;
