A fast-paced, challenging opportunity exists to provide leadership and fiscal policy analysis with the Personal Tax Policy and Design Branch, Ontario Ministry of Finance.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As a member of the personal income tax policy team, you will:

- actively participate in the development of personal income and payroll tax policies for the Province of Ontario
- research and assess economic and distributional effects of tax policy changes
- design, develop, and operate quantitative models to assess the impacts of tax policy changes and propose creative solutions
- lead/actively participate in the decision making process
- present research, analysis, policy options and brief senior management
- liaise with other ministries, the private sector, the federal government and other jurisdictions.

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge:

- expert knowledge of economics, public policy, public finance, statistics, accounting, or a related discipline
- ability to understand and interpret tax legislation, regulation and practice or related legislation
- good knowledge of government structure and policy processes

Analytical and Research Skills:

- advanced skills in technical analysis
- knowledge of research techniques and analytical skills
- superior quantitative analysis and modeling skills

Communication and Organizational Skills:

- oral and written communication skills
- good knowledge of administrative and organizational abilities to plan and carry out projects
- interpersonal skills to develop and maintain contacts in other branches, ministries and governments
- demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple issues
- ability to lead project teams and work effectively in a team setting

Computer Skills:

- demonstrated ability to design and operate quantitative economic and financial spreadsheets and computer models
