Bring your knowledge and expertise in the petroleum industry to this unique and multi-faceted role where you will have the opportunity to provide front line program delivery of the Petroleum Resources program to the public, businesses and industries located in Ontario.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this position, you will:

• assess compliance with the Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act, legislation, regulations and policies
• ensure public safety, environmental protection and good resource management practices

Note: The results of this competition may be used to fill future vacancies for up to 14 months.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory requirement:

• You hold a valid driver's licence and have the ability to travel to areas not accessible by public transit to carry out inspections.

Communication skills:

• You have demonstrated negotiation, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
• You have proven ability to prepare reports, presentations and packages for management.
• You demonstrate the ability to interact with a variety of internal and external stakeholders with good judgement and tact.

Technical expertise:

• You are aware of Petroleum Operations Section, its mandate and programs.
• You have the proven ability to interpret and apply legislation.
• You have demonstrated knowledge of compliance activities to conduct audits, recommend charges, suspensions or revocations.

General skills:

• You have planning and coordinating skills to manage a demanding workload in conjunction with other ministry staff based on targets and priorities.
• You can demonstrate political acuity and ability to determine potential issues pro-actively and relay information to clients (e.g. municipalities; operators; media) in a non-confrontational and positive manner.
