Are you a professional geologist looking to join a dynamic team where you will play a key role in contributing to the sustainable development of the province's earth resources?

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:

• conduct independent compilations and metallogenic assessments of all known mineral deposits in Ontario
• conduct field investigations in all areas of the province of Precambrian and Paleozoic metallic and industrial mineral deposits as well as office-based data compilation leading to the creation of high-quality maps, reports and presentations
• liaise with colleagues and peers as well as representatives from the minerals industry, governments and the public

How do I qualify?

Mandatory requirement:

• certified as Professional Geoscientist with Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (APGO) or eligibility for membership in APGO
• valid driver's licence to travel to sites throughout northern Ontario to complete field work

Specialized knowledge:

• advanced knowledge and understanding of geoscientific principles, theories and practices related to geology and geoscience disciplines such as economic geology, mineralogy, structural geology and lithogeochemistry with an advanced knowledge of Precambrian/Paleozoic geology acquired by means of a degree in earth sciences and experience in the relevant field(s)
• demonstrated experience conducting field-based geological studies and property visits pertinent to mineral occurrences, including geoscience data collection and examination of mineralization, and sampling, as well as data interpretation and digital database management

Communication, interpersonal and people skills:

• strong communication and presentation skills to interact and collaborate effectively with professional staff and a broad range of clients and to organize and present geoscience information to diverse stakeholder groups
• interpersonal and team work skills

Other important skills:

• well-developed planning, organizational and project management skills
• demonstrated research, evaluative, analytical and problem-solving skills
• demonstrated experience with computer software and hardware relevant to geoscience applications including databases, spreadsheets, word processing and sound working knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS)
