The Education Statistics and Analysis Branch of the Ministry of Education offers these unique opportunities to play a key role in the design, development and implementation of policies, programs, standards and initiatives related to education in Ontario.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:

• provide strategic leadership, planning, coordination and educational expertise and analysis in the development of a range of highly complex and politically sensitive policies, programs, standards and initiatives related to the government's education mandate
• provide information to school boards with regards to ministry legislation, policies and programs
• develop and sustain positive relationships with stakeholders
• provide strategic and expert educational advice to ministry senior management
• coordinate and provide educational expertise in the development and roll-out of province-wide implementation plans and monitoring strategies

How do I qualify?

Education knowledge and experience:

You have:
• knowledge of pedagogy normally acquired by being a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
• experience teaching at the elementary and secondary school level and in school board settings
• thorough knowledge of Ontario educational systems and the Education Act, associated regulations, Ontario Human Rights Code and education programs
• expert knowledge of and sensitivity to provincial education and social trends related to public policy directions, the educational environment and decision-making structures

Knowledge of policy development and service-delivery program development:

• you have sound knowledge of policy development and service-delivery program development and monitoring

Conceptual, research, analytical, evaluation and interpretative skills:

You have:
• superior conceptual, research, analytical, evaluation and interpretative skills including the ability to analyze policies and data for reports and studies
• ability to think strategically, anticipate and absorb complex and large-scale issues and develop effective and practical long and short-term policy positions

Work-planning, organizational, coordination and project management skills:

You have:
• strong work-planning, organizing and coordination skills
• project management, team leadership and administration abilities with consistent capacity to produce high quality results on time

Communication skills:

You have:
• excellent writing and oral communication skills, including listening, conducting consultations, reporting, presenting and persuasion
• strong relationship and stakeholder management, interpersonal and senior-level representation skills

Computer proficiency:

• you have computer proficiency in word-processing, presentation, spreadsheet and database software

    As a result of the recently agreed to AMAPCEO collective agreement, a new job evaluation system will be implemented on October 1, 2013. In the new job evaluation system, the classification level of this position is Level 6 with a salary range of $69,680.00 - $99,600.00; the parties have agreed to a salary note and this position shall be paid in the salary range set out for the term of this collective agreement at the Education Officer 6 level with a salary range of $69,680.00 - $116,683.00 per annum.
