If you possess a well developed knowledge of engineering software applications and equipment and have experience developing and delivering training, this may be your opportunity to provide technical support to staff on a wide range of highway engineering related applications.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• consult with and provide training to staff, managers and consultants on engineering applications
• diagnose and resolve application, software and equipment problems
• participate in process improvement
• manage the personal computer fleet renewal program
• maintain and edit Central Region's intranet site
• represent the engineering office on various internal and external working groups relating to engineering applications

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

• you have extensive knowledge of engineering information technology applications (i.e.AutoCAD, SoftDesk Design, Highway Design System (HDS), Contract Package Preparation System (CPS), Integrated Engineering System (IESCad), CMS and Highway Costing(HiCo))
• you have demonstrated experience developing and delivering formal and on-the-job training
• you understand provincial highway design procedures, policies and standards of highway engineering (i.e. automated design software and associated delivery products)

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

• you can communicate effectively and can prepare and present technical information in a clear and concise manner
• you can build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• you can work independently, organize and prioritize work requirements with minimum supervision

Analytical, Problem Solving and Reasoning Skills:

• you can analyze new processes, new equipment and alternative delivery means
• you can resolve problems encountered by client group during data collection, manipulation or storage
