Do you have technical expertise in large-scale database administration? If so, consider this opportunity with the Community Services Cluster where you will lead the design, implementation and maintenance of databases to support the delivery of services from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:

• act as technical expert in the field of advanced database technology
• assume lead responsibility to complete and maintain the logical and physical design for multiple ministry database
• provide specialized expertise in all areas of existing database design and administration
• provide expert consulting and advice to management and clients

How do I qualify?

Technical knowledge and skills:

You have:
• expert knowledge in the theories, principles and techniques used for large-scale data management
• strong knowledge of information management (IM) analysis, logical and physical data modeling, relational database management system (RDMS) design and development, data warehouse (DW) design and development, and disaster recovery
• knowledge and demonstrated experience using one or more industry standard RDMS (e.g. Oracle 10g or later, MS SQL Server 2005 or later) and their toolsets
• demonstrated skills to support standard Software Development Lifecycle activities in RDMS design, development, unit testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing, deployment, support, and administration
• experience using specialized tools for data modeling (e.g. Erwin, PowerDesigner)

Problem-solving and evaluative skills:

You have:
• proven ability to implement major application database modifications and to conceptualize approaches to new business requirements
• demonstrated evaluative skills to identify problems and solutions

Project management, coordination and leadership skills:

You have:
• planning and coordination skills to coordinate and lead all technical activities and coordinate data management analysis and design
• demonstrated project management skills to ensure technical guidance and leadership on all plans
• demonstrated leadership skills to coordinate and manage multiple projects

Communication and interpersonal skills:

You have:
• superior communication skills to liaise and translate non-technical terms with internal and external stakeholders
• demonstrated consulting and interpersonal skills to prepare project reports, lead discussions, translate technical analysis into non-technical terms and communicate advantages and disadvantages with clients
• consultation skills to prepare project reports detailing impacts on client services and ability to provide recommendations
