Are you an experienced engineering professional with extensive knowledge in air pollution? Here is your opportunity to identify, evaluate and advise the ministry and stakeholders on the development of provincial standards, policies, strategies and innovative technologies related to air pollution.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• develop and consult on policies, strategies and technologies related to air pollution
• provide technical information, guidance and advice to ministry staff, industry and other stakeholders
• advise on aspects of air emissions, air dispersion modelling, legislation, regulations and guidelines pertaining to air pollution in Ontario
• coordinate and project manage consultant studies
• provide engineering expertise in the development and implementation of air pollution control plans
• participate in negotiations and consultations on air pollution control and air standards issues with affected stakeholders

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• you have full membership in Professional Engineers of Ontario

Knowledge of Air Pollution:

• knowledge and experience normally gained through obtaining a degree in environmental, chemical or process engineering or equivalent experience
• you have practical experience in the field of air pollution and air dispersion modelling
• you know and have engineering experience in technical assessment of air emissions, refined air dispersion models, risk management and assessment methodologies
• you have knowledge and experience in methodologies used for stationary sources, emission testing and continuous emission monitoring of air contaminants and the ability to evaluate stakeholder input and provide recommendations regarding policies
• you know theories, principles and current practices of engineering, applied chemistry, industrial processes and pollution control technologies
• you have knowledge of air emissions legislation, policies, regulations and guidelines for Ontario and other jurisdictions

Analytical Skills:

• you can apply your knowledge to complex technical analysis in order to assess and evaluate risks and resolve problems
• you can develop recommendations for policies, standards, guidelines and criteria

Communication Skills:

• you can prepare correspondence and technical reports
• you can explain complex analysis to stakeholders, answering questions and making recommendations

Computer Skills:

• you can use software application for data management, data analysis, word processing, graphics and internet
