Do you have extensive experience in transportation policy and project management?

If so, consider this unique and challenging project within the Pan/Parapan AM Games Branch.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
• plan and coordinate major transportation policy and operations research projects that address and support the successful delivery of transportation solutions for key client groups (e.g. spectators, residents businesses) for the 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games economic, social, environmental and land use objectives of the province
• coordinate multi-disciplinary projects/assignments involving complex transportation policy and program operations issues
• provide related consultation and outreach services
• assess and undertake research and operational analysis related to Games policy and planning delivery requirements
• develop terms of reference and methodology to address specific complex policy and operational issues working with multi-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder working groups

How do I qualify?

Policy and Planning

• you have demonstrated experience with multi-stakeholder project teams in the planning and delivery of complex transportation and transit initiatives or special events, such as work on major, international sporting events
• you can plan, develop, coordinate, fund and deliver major planning projects and operations in the context of transportation and transit initiatives
• you know analytical methods and the links with transportation policy issues required to conduct complex statistical and options analysis
• you know government structure and multi-modal transportation theory, principles and practices or operations related to transportation
• you can anticipate emerging issues and trends, determine policy, planning and operational impacts on transportation client groups

Consultation and Interpersonal Skills

• you can identify area of concerns and negotiate complex problem resolution with government officials, partner ministries and external stakeholders
• you can build partnerships and manage relationships in order to establish key stakeholder linkages and to work cooperatively in policy development projects
• you have facilitation skills, diplomacy, political acuity and business acumen to represent the ministry and province on intergovernmental forums
• you can use project management skills to provide technical guidance and support to multi-disciplinary project teams of staff and consultants

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills

• you can conduct complex data analysis, assess latest development in the field and develop innovative transportation solutions
• you can analyse and develop innovative approaches to address policy and operational issues and communicate and recommend options to senior ministry officials
• you are familiar with statistical applications or mapping, GIS (geographical Information System) and modelling applications to forecast and analyse transportation demand and plan transportation and transit services
• you can conduct research and analysis of field investigations, demand forecasts and demographic studies to support transportation and transit planning or operations

Communication Skills

• you can respond to issues, prepare reports, analyses, Cabinet submissions, briefing materials and correspondence
• you can represent the ministry and province on task forces and working committees, promoting Games transportation solutions to internal and external stakeholders
• you can provide expert advice to senior management, prepare complex correspondence, briefing notes, reports and recommendations
