Do you enjoy rolling up your sleeves to tackle challenging and complex issues? Make your mark with the Ministry of Natural Resources, Species at Risk Branch as a Policy Analyst. In this role, you will embark on high profile policy analysis related to the development and implementation of policies and programs to support the protection and management of species in Ontario.
What can I expect to do in this role?
You will:
• conduct or participate in policy analysis, research and development regarding the protection, conservation, recovery and management of species at risk (SAR) and their habitats in Ontario
• coordinate and/or conduct consultation processes with program areas
• provide information, advice, guidance and support around interpretation and application of the Endangered Species Act including, policy development and review
• manage projects or aspects of projects within the branch
• conduct or participate in the delivery of training and provide technical input and advice regarding the transfer of policies/procedures
1 position: located in Peterborough
1 position: may be located in either Toronto or Peterborough, depending on the location of the successful candidate.

How do I qualify?
Research, analytical and problem-solving skills:
• proven ability to perform policy and program analysis, identify options, and develop and recommend ministry policy as well as formulate options for resolving program-related issues
Project management skills:
• project management, organizing and coordinating skills to plan, lead and coordinate all phases and associated activities of assigned projects
Communication and consultation skills:
• demonstrated ability to present, communicate and promote program objectives to a variety of stakeholders
• proven ability to prepare high level written materials such as correspondence, reports, briefing materials and other program, planning and policy related documentation
• ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships with various stakeholders and interest groups
Specialized knowledge:
• demonstrated knowledge of the theories, practices and strategies of environmental management and associated issues as they relate to species at risk
