HROntario is seeking individuals with a commitment to excellence in customer service for the Assistant Human Resources Advisor position.

The number of positions to be filled has not been identified at this time. This competition will be used to create an eligibility list to fill upcoming opportunities within the next twelve months.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• support and carry out professional, horizontal, one-employer generalist HR services;
• provide proactive services to client managers and HR Advisors;
• assist in providing advice on the application and interpretation of collective agreements, legislation, policies and directives;
• liaise with HROntario partners;
• assist in preparing, updating and maintaining position specifications;
• assist in the management of grievances;
• research and analyze information to support HR Advisors and clients.

How do I qualify?

Human Resources Knowledge:

• You demonstrate knowledge of the established theories, principles and practices of human resources management.
• You have the ability to interpret and apply human resources policies, collective agreements, and related legislation.

Communication Skills:

• You possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to provide proactive support.
• You demonstrate customer service skills and the ability to provide advice.
• You have the ability to prepare a variety of written materials such as position descriptions, correspondence, and reports.

Research, Analytical, Problem-Solving and Organization Skills:

• You are able to identify, assess and respond to sensitive and confidential human resources issues.
• You have the ability to assist in analyzing and describing job functions.
• You possess the ability to deal with competing priorities in a fast paced environment.

General skills:

• You have the ability to work with computer software and operations, including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, email and internet.
• You are able to utilize various office equipment.
