Are you an experienced educational administrator who is able to engage key stakeholders to support the ongoing implementation of the Ontario First Nation, Métis and Inuit Education Policy Framework across Ontario's education system?

What can I expect to do in this role?

Working within an assigned region and horizontally with other Education Officers across the province, you will:
• Provide expert knowledge to school boards, schools, and First Nation, Métis and Inuit communities with information and clarification regarding ministry legislation, policies, programs;
• Liaise and maintain relationships with key stakeholders; monitor and report on effectiveness of the school system and identify trends;
• Provide advice and support on issues related to Aboriginal education;
• Facilitate implementation of policy; and,
• Ensure compliance with Ministry policies and programs.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• You must be a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.

Related knowledge:

• You have a thorough understanding of the Ontario Education system, Education Act and associated regulations with knowledge of operations of school boards and schools and education governance;
• You have demonstrated knowledge of First Nation, Métis and Inuit cultures and traditions with knowledge of administrative and educational issues in provincially funded and First Nation school systems.

Collaboration and communication skills:

You can build effective partnerships and have demonstrated experience dealing with stakeholders (i.e. schools, school boards and First Nation, Métis and Inuit communities);
• You have superior written and oral communication skills to make presentations, prepare detailed reports, briefing notes and ministerial correspondence.

Analytical and coordination skills:

• You have team leadership, consultation and analytical skills to review legislation program curriculum and standards, evaluate proposals for funding, to provide interpretation and clarification to school boards and identify trends/issues for the ministry;
• You have demonstrated project co-ordination, organizational and planning skills and can shift priorities in order to meet deadlines.
