What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• lead and oversee the development and management of advanced technical training programs in the areas of forest fire management for ministry staff and other partners
• lead program reviews and develop recommendations/improvements to provincial policy, standards, and certification procedures
• coordinate, assess and evaluate training technology and methodologies to establish consistency

How do I qualify?

Strategic planning and leadership skills:

• You have strategic planning and team leadership skills to plan, organize and coordinate Training Approval Requests (TARS) and learning network activities.
• You have leadership skills to coordinate training personnel and oversee the development of services and products.

Technical knowledge and skills:

• You have the ability to grasp fire management plans and activities to ensure learning relates and serves these plans/needs directly.
• You have proven work experience and knowledge of adult education principles and techniques, curriculum development, program evaluation, needs analysis and skills identification methodologies and tools to develop plans.
• You have program planning, and resource budgeting experience.
• You have knowledge of applicable fire and health and safety legislation, and workings of international and national fire agencies, ministries, and other levels of government.

Analytical and problem solving skills:

• You have well developed analytical skills to conduct/lead needs analysis and requisite skills identification.
• You have problem solving skills to manage working relationships, and resolving issues with partners.

Communication and interpersonal skills:

• You have superior communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to interact with ministry staff and outside agencies.
• You have written communications skills to development agreements and write policy, procedure and reports.
• You can provide strategic advice and recommendations to management to support senior level decision-making.

Organizational skills:

• You have a high degree of organizational skills to lead and conduct various projects, program activities and evaluations.
• You can coordinate program activities to align with activities and programs of others ensuring objectives and timelines are established and met.
