An exciting opportunity awaits you in the role of Library Technician at the Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf in Milton. You will work part-time to maintain and operate the school library. Do you want to make a difference in the lives of students who are Deaf and/or hard of hearing? Do you have a background and experience working in a library? If so, this unique opportunity may be of interest to you.
This position is 18.13 hours per week which could be scheduled Monday to Friday to support the Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf and the needs of the students. Salary indicated is based on a full-time position at 36.25 hours per week. This position is 18.13 hours per week and the salary will be prorated based on hours worked.

What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role you will:
- Perform library support services such as circulation duties.
- Engage and foster into students and/or classes the love of reading.
- Maintain and update computerized databases.
- Shelving, filing, and maintaining a variety of collections (i.e., books, videos, learning kits, research papers,
- Purchase books and learning materials and coordinate publisher sales.
- Collaborate with the school community to provide a positive and engaging learning culture through information and digital literacy skills.
How do I qualify?
Skills and Qualifications:
- You have a Library and Information Technician diploma and/or equivalent training or work experience in the library and information field.
- You have the ability to communicate using American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate effectively with the school community and engage directly with students (preferred).
- You know library processes, procedures, protocols, and coding systems including the Dewey Decimal system.
- You have knowledge of and the ability to operate library automation software and keyboarding skills.
- You are knowledgeable with the curriculum and education system to participate in collaborative pedagogical practices that promote students' achievement.
- You understand relevant purchasing policies and procedures.
- You can effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- You demonstrate organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
- You have physical dexterity/mobility and ability to lift up to 7 kg.
