You will:
• provide clerical support services for professional staff engaged in legal and policy work for the OIPRD
• interpret and provide factual information and explanations of legal administrative policies and procedures
• prepare draft legal documents and correspondence
• prioritize own work to ensure timely completion
How do I qualify?
Technical Knowledge and Experience:
• You have the ability to interpret and apply legislation such as the Police Services Act, the Statutory Powers and Procedures Act, the Judicial Review and Procedures Act, the Rules of Civil Procedure and the Independent Police Review Act
• You have knowledge of accepted legal and policy research sources, court and police procedures and practices and legal terminology
• You have knowledge of legal office procedures and practices in order to review legal documents, initiate follow-ups, coordinate activities and interpret and provide process advice
Research and Analytical Skills:
• You have the ability to find and assess provisions in statutes in support of legal and policy work
• You can research and review legal documents and precedents to provide factual information and explanations of legal administrative policies and procedures
Organizational, Communication and Customer Service Skills:
• You can prioritize your workload and expedite items to ensure timely completion
• You have written communication skills to compose routine and complex material
• You can use tact and discretion in order to provide sensitive information, explanations and make recommendations
• You have customer service and teamwork skills to support counsel and respond promptly to issues
Computer Skills:
• You have knowledge and experience using software and research tools such as MS Word, MS Project, MS outlook, Excel, the Internet and the Intranet
