Effective April 1, 2024 the salary range for this position is $76, 231 to $109, 842 per year in compliance with AMAPCEO collective agreement provisions. The new rates, effective retroactive to April 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

As the Digital Communications Advisor for the Ministry of Mine's Communications Services Branch, you will play a key role in delivering strategic digital approaches to ministry programs, services, and new initiatives by providing communications advice and support and managing the ministry's social media channels.

Note: The successful candidate will have the option of working out of either the Sudbury or Toronto office location.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:

• Plan, develop, and implement digital strategies including social media content.
• Provide consultation and expert advice to senior management, staff, and clients on digital communications plans, strategies and marketing campaigns.
• Write, edit, and produce a range of digital communications products.
• Provide leadership on social media, graphic design, video production and post production, marketing, and web content for the ministry.
• Edit written materials to be posted online in accordance with established standards, policies, and guidelines.
• Develop and sustain positive relationships and networks with management, staff, and stakeholders.

How do I qualify?

Specialized communications knowledge and skills:

• You specialize in contemporary digital communications practices and techniques, with a focus on journalism, and public\media relations to execute communication and marketing strategies, plans and products.
• You have experience planning, leading, and coordinating the design and implementation of strategic digital communications projects and initiatives.
• You have experience with strategic digital communications, with specific expertise in social media.
• You have experience of graphic design, video production and post production and content development to coordinate and complete the design and development of products for social media content.

Communication skills:

• You can respond to inquiries for information, make presentations, and provide advice/guidance in relation to digital communications.
• You have knowledge of creative, user-friendly, and effective writing techniques to research, develop, and coordinate appropriate content for the target audience.
• You have proven experience writing, editing, and producing a range of digital communications and marketing products.

Research and analytical skills:

• You can demonstrate excellent knowledge and experience utilizing research and analytical techniques.
• You can demonstrate experience with analytics to ensure accuracy and currency of information and making recommendations to solve issues.
• You have experience evaluating and recommending concepts and strategies for digital projects and identify sources of data, collect information, and determine the content, style and tone required for written or website materials.

Interpersonal and relationship management skills:

• You have interpersonal and consultation skills to liaise with senior management, ministry partners, and stakeholders.
• You have excellent advisory and facilitation skills to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external clients to develop and implement web communications strategies.

Other important skills:

• You are proficient in using desktop/networked word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
• You use your planning and organizational skills to coordinate and supervise communications program activities/projects.
• You can work in a highly demanding environment with many competing priorities and deadlines.
